So, You Un-circled Me on Google+, eh?

If you are becoming addicted to Google+ just like me, then maybe you would like to have a look at all our tips and tricks articles in our Google Help series. Google+ is going viral nowadays and that is why it hit 10 million users in just 10 days of its initiation. Unlike Friends in Facebook and Followers in Twitter, you get to be added to Circles of different users on Google+, and thus all the users in your Google+ Circles are actually your Google+ contacts.

Its obvious that you get to receive an email by default and a notification on the google toolbar when you are added to someone’s circle, but there is no option of being notified when you are removed from a Circle on Google+. But, we got a little trick for you people here to get to know whenever you are removed from a Google+ Circle. There is no software for that and not even a manual method, but the job is done by a Google Chrome extension called ‘GoogleMinus‘.

When you install this extension and start using it, it asks permission to to get access to your Google+ profile and adds up to its server the list of your Google+ contacts. After this point, whenever you login to Google+, this extension itself runs over your profile and will notify you directly if there is a contact missing in your circles or if you are missing from someone’s circle. So now if you want to keep track of your Google+ circles, you surely need to install this extension.

You Can Clone Your Circles on Google+ [How to]

In addition to all the other cool options on Google+ there is an interesting option that lets you duplicate or clone your circles.

Google+ was said to have lost traffic few days back. What can be the reason behind that? I think it has something to do with the settings and options of Google+. The settings and options Google+ provides are far better than Facebook, in my opinion, but the problem here is, that they are hidden. Nothing is revealed to the users in any media by the way. Even on Facebook, the users took four years to get a grip over the privacy settings and other options.

One interesting option that Google+ provides you is very handy. Similar to the lists we make on Facebook, we make Circles here on Google+, and its pretty easy to transfer a friend from one list to another on Facebook, and this option is hidden here on Google+. I know you would have thought that this option is not even present on Google+, but no, Google has tried to clear every problem for their users.

On Google+, we can duplicate a Circle, and make another new circle with all the people that were there in that circle, or else you can also copy some bunch of people from that circle to another. A point that I would like to add here is that I know you can transfer people from circle to circle, but that is only individually. The method that I am drafting down here lets you transfer more than one person at once, from a circle to another.

1. Open up Google+, and go to Circle’s tab.

2. Now select the circle you want to copy, or transfer people from. Now click on ‘View Circles in Tab’.

3. Now select the people you want to transfer to the new circle, or if you want to transfer all of them, you can select all, by expanding the options by clicking on ‘More Actions’. Now just drag down those friends on the ‘Drop here to create a new circle’.

4. That’s it, now name the new circle and your friends are transferred.

Sync Your Google+ Posts to Twitter, Facebook and Identi.Ca

Some more from the world of Google Plus while experiencing its magic with every new update and application. Along with all the extensions that I shared with you readers, I found out a Google+ user, who is now working as a system and will help you synchronise your Google+ posts to Twitter, Facebook and Identi.Ca. This new bot is known as Agent G+ as it truly acts as an agent.

Let me tell you, how to get a grip of this new bot, and to remind you, it works without any extension or software, after you once get authenticated with Agent G+. Now to get authenticated, just visite Gplus Sagg, and there, on the top-right, you will see ‘Sign in Twitter‘ and ‘Sign in Facebook‘ as well as ‘Identi.ca‘. For now I will go for twitter, and you can check out the others on your own. When you click ‘sign in twitter’, it will open up a new window and ask you to enter your username and password. On the next page an authorisation confirmation to Agent G+. After you authorize it, a code will appear( just like the one in the picture below) with some instructions.

sync google plus with twitter

So now just copy your code, and paste it on Google plus in a new post. Tag ‘Agent G+‘ alone and no one else in this post update. And for that, ofcourse you would have to follow or circle Agent G+. In a few seconds, your code will be reviewed and you will be confirmed as a user of Agent G+. Now refresh the Agent G+ website and you will a confirmation like the one in the picture below.

syng google posts with twitter

After this, now whenever you post a new post on Google Plus, just tag ‘Agent G+’ in it. Agent G+ will itself share your post on Facebook, Twitter and Identi.ca, sparing you the use of some extension all the time.

Google+ Notifier Saves the Day by Popping up Notifications on Your Desktop

Nowadays Google is totally focused on Google+ and changing the interface, adding new options and making it more attractive and productive. So when the big name is working on it, why would the others stay back. In all this hustle, Danny Tuppeny created an App for all those people who love to interact with their friends from the Desktop, and not the social networking websites.

google plus notifications

This App is known as Google+ Notifier and as for me, it came out very handy for I don’t sign in to Google+ because of so much work going on already. So this notifier saved the day for me and gave me notifications live on my desktop. This application shows itself in the system tray, besides clock, and it simply shows up the number of notifications in red colour.

After you download the Google+ Notifier, just click the DanTup.GplusNotifier.exe to launch it, and then enter your Google login details. Now whenever someone adds you to a circle, someone comments, tags or comments on your posts, you will get a notification as a pop up message. In order to check those notifications, just click on the icon and a window will rise up, just as it does from the Google toolbar, to show the new events.

For more information on this App, you might want to view its Source Code. And if you want to donate to Danny, for making such an awesome App, click HERE.

After the introduction of the Plus profiles, Google has been trying to enter into the competition and slowly is adding different features. Now apart from usual notifications in Google Bar, email notifications and mobile push notifications – you can also get SMS notifications on your phone.

Like the sms notifications are not enabled by default in Facebook, same is the case in Google+ and thus you need to enable it  to get notifications.

Google+ Sparks – All You Need to Know

Google Plus has had the most hyped up launch in history. Google was clever enough to limit it to Invites in order to artificially build up demand. The Google Plus experience has been great so far as it has been well received and gone into the main stream with 10 million users so far. Some of the best features on Google Plus are Hangouts, Huddle and Circles. It is interesting to note that while people are raving about those features, Sparks has been overlooked by many.  Sparks is a really cool feature which has not gotten the accolades it deserves.

 Google+ Sparks

Sparks is a great way of staying in touch with all those topics you are interested in without having to open a separate page. It is a more polished version of Google Alerts minus the irrelevant stories. It is easy to share those posts with your followers with one simple click. So far Sparks is a simple service which delivers content as a result of search. There is a lot of potential for this service to grow as the result of plugins and other enhancements. Google usually delivers on enhancements but if it’s anything like what it did with Orkut then we are in for a long wait.

 Benefit for Blogs

I have noticed that most of the search results in Sparks are from blogs while the rest are from websites. The biggest beneficiaries are blog owners who will be able to use Sparks as a way of gaining more traffic. Google mixes up the search so there is a good variety of content available from both blogs and websites.  If you want to keep getting more updates about a particular topic then you can save that as an interest for regular updates.   I have tried out the search option in sparks and most of the results which pour in are for blogs: both popular and ones I haven’t heard of. The great thing about Sparks is that I don’t have to open a separate browser to search for news items nor do I have to check my email for Google Alerts. If I need to be updated about a certain topic I can easily check Sparks for the updates.

Conclusion

Google Sparks is relatively new and is going through field testing so it wouldn’t be fair to claim that it’s not a polished service. There is absolutely no way to set up an advanced search nor can one edit the searches or organize them properly. There are a few bugs which make it impossible to share posts in your circles. There is also no mechanism to schedule the flow of content at different times.Sparks will take off once people start figuring it out and when Google finally goes around making those much required changes.

You might have seen how Google+ helps in collecting your data and then use it for personalizing your content and ads on non-Google websites, including applications or other clients. This is indeed annoying sometimes as you might want to see original stuff and so you do want to disable this option and not share your information with other websites.

So lets tell you how to do that but please be aware that if you disable +1 personalization, you will not see +1 recommendations from people you know when visiting those sites.
